(3 June 2026) Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) today relocated its passenger check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 (T2), newly commissioned last week, with overall operations running smoothly and in an orderly manner. Clara Wong, Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation, and Steven Yiu, Executive Director, Airport Operations, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), accompanied by GBA’s management representatives, observed the airline’s check-in service operations this morning.
The airline’s check-in counters and smartphone express bag drop counters at T2 are located at Aisle Q and Aisle S respectively. At about 5:30am, GBA started welcoming passengers at the new check-in counters. To mark this special occasion, passengers were presented with commemorative gifts and invited to take photos. The airline also collected feedback from them on the new facilities and services, with the majority expressing satisfaction.
To ensure a seamless transition, GBA has been coordinating closely with AAHK, ground handling agents and business partners, and conducted several joint trial runs. The airline has also deployed additional manpower to assist passengers and, in advance of the relocation, provided useful information to ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.
GBA’s Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hou Wei said, “As we approach our fourth anniversary, the relocation to T2 is particularly meaningful to us. The terminal’s state-of-the-art design and smart facilities will enable us to enhance our operational efficiency and to offer a superior experience to our passengers. Moving forward, GBA will continue to proactively expand its network to meet market demand and contribute to reinforcing Hong Kong’s unique status as an international aviation hub.”
Passengers travelling with GBA can now check in at the airline’s counters at Aisle Q of T2. Alternatively, they may complete online check-in via the airline’s mobile app and then proceed directly to the smartphone express bag drop counters at Aisle S.
Positioned to serve leisure travel and mainly regional short-haul routes, T2 is well supported by a full suite of public transport options – Airport Express, airport buses, and taxis. The terminal is also connected to Car Park 3, which provides over 1,000 parking spaces. In addition, it features a wide range of retail outlets and a food court, offering travellers diverse shopping and dining choices.
A value carrier based in Hong Kong, GBA commenced service in July 2022 and is currently operating scheduled flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Manila, Zhoushan, Huangshan, Yichang, Guilin, Zhangjiajie, Datong, Enshi and Dunhuang, with a fleet of Boeing 737-800 and 737-9 aircraft.
